1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the website hosted at slateazimuth.com (the "Site") or downloading any application distributed by Slate Azimuth LLC ("we", "our", or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease accessing our Site and delete our applications from your devices.
2. Exam Coach Apps: Architecture & Data Synchronization
Our study and exam preparation applications are engineered to protect your focus and privacy. (FilePort is covered separately in section 3.)
- No Account Requirements: You are not required to create a profile, enter a password, or submit personal demographic files to use our software.
- Local Storage: Your academic study statistics, flashcard review intervals, test scores, and performance history reside exclusively in the sandbox storage of your physical device.
- Apple iCloud Sync: Multi-device progress synchronization is routed exclusively through your personal private Apple iCloud container. We do not provide, operate, or maintain secondary servers for this study data and have no access to your synchronization payloads.
3. FilePort for Mac
FilePort is a macOS utility that copies photos, videos, and files between an Android phone and your Mac. It is a tool you point at your own devices, so the terms that matter are different from the study apps above:
- Your files stay yours. Transfers run directly between your phone and your Mac. We claim no rights over anything you move, and nothing you move reaches us.
- Your devices, your content. You are responsible for having the right to access and copy the content you transfer, and for complying with the terms of the devices and accounts involved.
- Keep a backup. FilePort verifies what it writes and never deletes anything from your phone unless you explicitly ask it to, but no transfer tool is a substitute for a backup. Move irreplaceable files knowing you have a second copy.
- Android is not ours. Phones differ in what they expose over USB and over wireless debugging, and a manufacturer can change that in an update. We support what we can reach; we cannot promise a specific phone, cable, or Android version will work.
4. Web Polling & Interactive Services
When you use interactive elements on our Site, such as selecting syllabus topics or submitting state expansion suggestions:
- You agree to submit accurate, non-fraudulent counts. Using automated bots, scrapers, or multiple virtual machines to artificially inflate voting tallies is strictly prohibited.
- We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to modify, reset, or remove any community votes, suggested syllabi, or user interaction modules without notice.
5. Subscriptions, In-App Purchases & Billing
Every app we publish is distributed exclusively by Apple — the App Store for the Exam Coach apps, the Mac App Store for FilePort:
- App Store Billing: All financial transactions, subscription renewals, payments, billing updates, and refund requests are managed exclusively by Apple Inc. under their App Store billing terms. We never collect or store your credit card or financial indicators.
- Subscription Cancellation: You can manage or cancel an automatic subscription at any time: on iOS in Settings > [your Apple Account] > Subscriptions, and on macOS in App Store > Account > Settings.
- Standard EULA: In addition to these Terms, your download of any of our apps is subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
6. Intellectual Property Rights
All content published on our Site and within our applications—including practice questions, custom-crafted text explanations, source curriculum material, graphic layouts, code scripts, and visual brand assets—is the exclusive intellectual property of Slate Azimuth LLC and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and trade dress laws.
You are granted a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use our software and access our content for your own private, non-commercial purposes — exam preparation in the study apps, and transferring your own files in FilePort. You may not republish, distribute, scrape, or resell any of our questions, materials, or software without our explicit written consent.
For all of our applications, including FilePort, you are not allowed to reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile, tamper with, or create derivative versions of the software or its parts, or to use automated analysis to bypass protections or usage restrictions, unless required by applicable law and only to that extent.
7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
OUR SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
Our coaching engines are engineered to support your professional goals, but Slate Azimuth LLC does not guarantee that using them will produce a passing score on any state certification or license examination. FilePort is engineered to move files faithfully and to verify what it writes, but we cannot guarantee compatibility with every phone, cable, or Android version, and it is not a backup service. Under no circumstances will Slate Azimuth LLC be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your examination results, from a failed or incomplete transfer, or from data loss.
