Our Privacy Philosophy
At Slate Azimuth LLC ("we", "our", or "us"), we practice Privacy by Design. We do not want to track you, we do not want to sell your profile, and we do not want to collect your personal details. We believe that the software you install should help you get something done without surveillance.
This policy covers this website and every app we ship: the Exam Coach apps for iOS (Texas Real Estate, Ham Radio, Part 107) and FilePort, our macOS app for moving photos, videos, and files between an Android phone and a Mac. The two product lines do different things, so each has its own section below.
1. Exam Coach Apps: Core Data & Local-First Processing
All curriculum progress indicators, performance records, question tracking states, card review intervals, and predictive readiness metrics generated in our exam coach mobile applications are stored and processed entirely local to your device.
- No Cloud Sync to Our Servers: Your performance charts and study schedules never transit through our systems.
- iCloud Container Storage: Standard cloud synchronization is handled exclusively via your personal private Apple iCloud container. We never have access to, visibility over, or ownership of this file stream.
2. FilePort for Mac: Your Files Never Reach Us
FilePort moves photos, videos, and files between an Android phone and your Mac. We collect no data from it.
- Your files go phone → Mac, directly: over the USB cable, or over your own Wi‑Fi network if you pair wirelessly. They are never uploaded to us and never pass through a server of ours. We do not see their contents, their names, or how many there are.
- Diagnostics stay on your Mac: FilePort records events such as a transfer starting or failing in your Mac's own system log, so a problem can be diagnosed. Nothing is transmitted, no account is involved, and no identifier is attached. You can switch it off in FilePort › Settings › Diagnostics.
- Thumbnails are cached locally: to keep browsing fast, FilePort stores thumbnails and previews in your Mac's standard Caches folder. It trims that cache on its own, and deleting the app deletes it.
- Purchases go through Apple: FilePort Pro is an in‑app purchase on the Mac App Store. Apple takes the payment and tells the app whether the purchase is active. We never receive your payment details.
FilePort asks macOS for three things, and only for what it needs to do the job:
- The destination folder you choose in the macOS panel — FilePort writes copied files there and nowhere else.
- USB device access — to talk to a phone on a cable.
- Local network access — only for wireless pairing, to find your phone's wireless‑debugging service on the network you are both already on. The connection runs between your Mac and your phone.
3. Account-Free Architecture
None of our apps require a user account. We do not ask for, process, or store:
- Your name or username
- Your email address or phone number
- External social single sign-on (SSO) credentials
You are fully operational in our apps immediately after downloading.
4. Anonymous Web Syllabus Polling
On our official website, we host an active syllabus and state expansion poll. This system is engineered with extreme data security constraints:
- Zero-Identity Submission: Proposing a state or voting for a course is recorded as a purely anonymous numeric counter change in our database. We do not link these votes to an IP address, cookies, or unique identifiers.
- Local Memory Verification: To ensure healthy tallies and prevent double voting, voted course IDs are recorded within your browser's private disk storage area (
localStorage). This stay-local context never leaves your browser.
5. Support Communications & Data Deletion
Because we do not require accounts, we do not store your study history, scores, or progress on our servers. This data stays entirely on your device. To delete your application data, simply delete the app from your device or clear your local browser storage.
If you voluntarily submit a support ticket via our online dashboard or email us at team@slateazimuth.com, we will capture your contact email address and any contextual diagnostics you optionally supply. If you wish to delete this correspondence:
- How to Request Deletion: You can email us at team@slateazimuth.com at any time to request the immediate, permanent deletion of your support tickets or email correspondence.
- Scope of Use: We use your messages solely to address your support concerns, diagnose technical malfunctions, and return answers to your questions. We never distribute, trade, or monetize support histories.
6. Third-Party Infrastructure & Processors
To keep our website fast, secure, and operational, we partner with selected infrastructure providers:
- Cloudflare (Content Delivery & Security): We use Cloudflare to host our website securely and protect against web-based security threats. Cloudflare processes basic, non-personally identifiable diagnostic logs (like server request metrics) temporarily.
- Supabase (Database Storage): We use Supabase to host our public syllabus and state expansion polls. This database only records aggregated, anonymous votes (integer counts) and contains no user accounts or personal metadata.
- Apple: Our apps are distributed exclusively through Apple — the App Store for the Exam Coach apps, the Mac App Store for FilePort — and Apple processes every purchase. Downloads, payments, and any diagnostics you choose to share with developers are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. What reaches us is the aggregated, anonymous summary Apple shows in App Store Connect, and only for users who opted into sharing it.
7. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy as our applications scale or as regulatory standards advance. When updates are published, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
